How it works
Four steps.
From a full card to a folder of selects, without the hour of deleting obvious misses in the middle.
The pass
-
1
Point it at the shoot Ingest straight from the card, or open a folder you already copied. RAW or JPEG, subfolders included if you want them. Filenames can be templated on the way in.
-
2
Let it run Cullwise works through the shoot and rates every frame on how well it came out. It errs toward keeping: anything borderline stays in, because the expensive mistake is throwing away a frame you wanted.
-
3
Review at speed A proper contact-sheet grid and a full-screen loupe, with the keyboard you already know. Filter by rating or colour, compare candidates side by side, press and hold for a 1:1 magnifier without leaving the grid.
-
4
Take it to your editor Ratings and labels are written where every other application looks for them, so your picks are already there when you open Lightroom or Capture One. Drag selected frames straight out.
While you review
The keyboard you already have
If you cull in Photo Mechanic today, the keys are where you expect them. Number keys set colour classes, Command and a number sets stars, and the grid, loupe, and compare views are one keystroke apart.
Your work is never overwritten
Every run writes a snapshot of what each frame was rated before it started. One menu item puts an entire run back exactly as it was. This is always on and there is nothing to switch on first — so running Cullwise over a shoot you have already culled by hand cannot cost you that work.
Nothing is hidden from you
Rejected frames dim rather than disappear, filters always show live counts, and deleting anything is a separate act you perform deliberately. You can always see what was set aside, and disagree with it.
